Culture & Community
Building on Claremont’s long history of environmental stewardship, we will work with our neighboring cities to develop regional plans. We will expand compost sites that reduce our carbon footprint and work across city borders to do the same. We will support efforts to address environmental justice including groundwater issues, lead paint challenges, reforestation and tree canopy.
Village South represents an opportunity for Claremont to fully transform itself into a pedestrian community, where a resident can purchase all their nonwork essentials within 15 minutes from their home. This will further invite sustainable initiatives and decrease our carbon footprint in the region.
We are also going to create an ad hoc committee to examine whether our street names throughout town represent injustices against Native people - we cannot move forward without addressing our past.
